Fusidic acid is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that is often used topically in creams and eyedrops, but may also be given systemically as tablets or injections. The global problem of advancing antimicrobial resistance has led to a renewed interest in its use recently. 
Fusidic acid is active in vitro against Staphylococcus aureus, most coagulase-negative staphylococci, Beta-hemolytic streptococci, Corynebacterium species, and most clostridium species. For intramuscular administration: 20:20
Cattle : 1 ml. per 20 kg. body weight for 3 days.
Calves, goats, sheep and swine : 1 ml. per 10 kg. body weight for 3 days.
Shake well before use and do not administer more than 20 ml. in cattle, more than 10 ml. in swine and more than 5 ml. in calves, sheep and goats per injection site.

Normal aseptic precautions should be observed.
Recommended dosage rate is 8mg/kg bodyweight procaine penicillin with 10mg/kg bodyweight dihydrostreptomycin sulphate equivalent to 1ml per 25kg bodyweight. The maximum dose volume administered at one site should not exceed 15 ml for horses, 6ml for cattle, 3ml for sheep and 1.5ml for pigs.
